The summary of “Your Name” (Kimi no Na wa)

I searched the Web to find the summary of the film that named “Your neme (Kimi no na wa)” that translated into English.

But I couldn’t find it.

So I wrote the summary of “Your neme (Kimi no na wa)” by myself.

I feel like my English is getting better but I still have a long way to go.

The story is set in Japan. The comet will come around the Earth in one month , and the comet appears for the first time in 1000 years.

It’s a love story and focuses on two teenagers.
Mysterious, spiritual and heartwarming film.

The main character’s names are Mitsuha and Taki.

Mitsuha is a girl and a high school student who lives in the countryside, and she is a shrine maiden consecrated to a God.
And Taki is a boy who lives in Tokyo and he is also a high school student.

One day, they switched bodies while they were sleeping.

But they thought it was just a dream, at first.

Day after day, they realized that it was real. Because their friends were telling them strange stories about them that they didn’t know.

They got in touch with each other to write their names and questions on their diaries.

And they have decided about the rule, which is to keep memos of their lives while they were switching bodies.

As they spent time together, an attraction develops between the two.

They wanted to meet each other.

But they could never swich their bodies since that day the comet came.

So he was going to meet her rely just on his memory of when he was switching bodies.

And he found her town with great difficulty but it had disappeared because of the collision of the comet.

In fact, the comet had come to the Earth three years ago on his timeline.
He checked many old articles about the comet impact, and he found her name on the death roll of the comet impact.

So he realized that they had been traveled beyond time and space when they were switching bodies.

The story goes back to a few weeks earlier.

Mitsuha made Sake that named Kutikamizake.
The recipe for Kutikamizake is as follows.
Put some rice into the mouth and sufficiently masticate and spit it out.
A few weeks later it will be Kutikamizake.
So That is said it will be the half part of the person who made it

Taki had known that to hear from Mitsuha’s grandmother when he was switching.
And they dedicated it to the god of the shrine that located center of the crater.

Then get back to his timeline.

He remembered that and try to switch bodies by drinking it.

And he successed to switch bodies and got back to the comet day as Mitsuha.

He knew nobody would believe him even if he told about the fact.
So he asked Mitsuha’s two best friends for a help and planned to rescue peoples from the comet impact.

And he also asked Mituha’s father, who is the mayor of the town, for a help.

However, Mitsuha’s father refused Taki’s opinion(while he looks like Mitsuha), because they(Mitsuha and father) hated each other.

He felt Mitsuha after he failed persuasion and he goes to the god of the shrine.

And they could meet to travel beyond time and space in that place.
They talked for a short time and back to their own bodies
Thenceforth they forgot each other’s name gradually.

She try to persuade his father and he finally accepted her opinions and they could save many people’s lives.

Five years later…

Mitsuha and Taki are both lives in Tokyo but they live in other places and have forgotten each other’s name.

But they are looking for something what they don’t know.

Few months later…

When they were getting on the other train and passed each other, they realized something to see each other through the window.
So they got off the train at the next stop, and they stared to run towards to each other.

They met at the stair and they asked each other “Your name?” (What’s your name?)

Of course if you can understand Japanese, you can know deeply “Your name”.
I really recommend to watch this film and to read this novel.

If you read this book, you can understand why Mitsuha’s father accept her opinion at last.
Of course I recommend to read “Your name” first.

ということで、あまりにも感動した「君の名は。」を外国人の友人に説明しようとしたところ、あまりにも複雑で、難しかったもので、英語の概要でもないかな？とWebを捜したんですが、公式サイトにも英語版がなくて、Wikiにも概要がありませんでした。

それなら、自分の英語力アップのためにと概要を英語で書いてみたのですが、果たしてこれが理解できるものかどうか自信がありませんでした。
出来上がってから、恐る恐るネイティブに話して、確認すると、見てなくてもだいたい内容はわかるということだったので、とりあえず、安心していますが、内容に間違いなどを見つけたら、コメント欄からご指摘いただけると幸いです。
